Publication date: 11.08.2017 REFERENCE: (see application details) Company Company: AVANGRID Management Company (AMC) Department: Accounting Control Job Title: Assistant Chief Accounting Officer Reports to: Chief Accounting Officer Location: Portland, Maine Cross Company Responsibility: Yes Business and Department AMC-ME-One City Center Portland,ME Description JOB SUMMARY: Scope of Work - Main duties, settings, geography, reporting relationships, other relationships: This position is responsible for assisting the Chief Accounting Officer in all duties within Avangrid Group reporting, technical accounting, internal controls (SOX) and corporate accounting. This involves review of each of these areas and direct involvement in new accounting matters and unique transactions. Oversight and responsibility for reporting in accordance with US GAAP through required filings with the SEC and for reporting in accordance with Iberdrola Group Accounting Policies (IFRS) within the intercompany forms for Iberdrola's global external reporting. Oversight will be of accounting results which includes both regulated and non-regulated business affiliates in the Power and Utilities industry that are consolidated within the Avangrid Group. Review and oversight will also be required of subsidiary consolidated financial statements. Build strong relationships with external and internal auditors. This position will have no direct reports however will assist in the oversight of the Directors of Consolidations/Reporting, Internal Controls, Corporate Accounting and Technical Accounting. MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Scope of work - range of responsibilities): 1. Oversee detailed accounting policies and monitor the implementation at the underlying businesses. Work closely with the business and other corporate control teams to prepare and determine these policies. 2. Independent view of US GAAP and IFRS financial statements and its disclosures. 3. Validate consistency in the application of US GAAP and IFRS Group policies in Financial Statements. 4. Ensure accurate reporting by challenging variances and unusual items in monthly P&L and key performance indicators and coordinating with AGR Subsidiary Accounting Teams and across departments (tax, regulatory, etc.) to resolve issues. 5. Analyze and review impacts of complex operations and transactions in US GAAP and IFRS financial statements 6. Determine accounting risks in conjunction with the Director of Internal Controls and design appropriate internal controls. 7. Work closely with the external and internal auditors to ensure timely and successful resolution of audit matters in all areas. Requirements JOB REQUIREMENTS: Education & Experience Required: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required CPA Required A minimum of 10 years' experience in power and/or utility accounting Accounting or financial experience in a management role required Experience in preparation or audit of financial statements required SEC accounting, reporting and disclosure experience required Significant experience with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and internal controls of financial reporting required Public accounting/auditing firm experience preferred Skills/Abilities: Detailed knowledge of US GAAP required Knowledge of IFRS accounting standards preferred Knowledge of FERC accounting standards preferred Strong leadership skills required Excellent analytical and problem solving ability required Strong communication skills, both verbal and written required Technical accounting knowledge for Utilities and Power industry This opportunity will offer AVANGRID is an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action employer.
